Balancing Hormones

As we get older or bodies continue to change and so do our hormones. I’m a 39 year old woman, I have faced many ups and downs with my body and emotions. Over the years I have mentioned different symptoms to doctors and they have each wanted to prescribe me medication. Not one ever mentioned a holistic approach. Now of course, I’ve been told to lose weight and that would help my symptoms, etc. Let’s face it, most women are told that when we see the doctor. Even if our appointment has nothing to do with our weight we are immediately trotted to a scale before even going in the exam room. But what if there was a holistic approach that you haven’t tried yet….What if I told you we could start healing our bodies at home?

Hormone Imbalance Symptoms

The symptoms I’ve been experiencing the last few years have been fatigue, mood swings, restlessness, weight gain, skin tags, acne, nigh sweats, anxiety & dry skin. There are many more out there, these are just what I personally experienced.

What can I do?

Over the last few years I have been cleaning up my diet and trying to really put a conscious effort in restoring my body naturally. One area I started with was over the counter medicines & prescriptions. I can’t tell you what chemicals make up these products. What I wanted was to look at the label and be able to understand what I’m reading. I want to understand the ingredients list. What I began to think about is what did we do before all of this medicine was invented? And what I found out is this: We used things found in nature! What God put on the earth! Our bodies can use the natural plants & other things to heal; and without all of the bad side effects.

Did you know that essential oil molecules reach the brain in 22 seconds, they are found in the bloodstream in 2 minutes and impact every cell in the body in 20 minutes!

Now don’t misunderstand me, I definitely think there is a place for modern medicine and it’s practices, but I want to try all of my natural options before going in that direction. My body needs a chance to respond naturally. Essential oils have been used for their healing properties for 5,000 years! To me, that looks like proven research! Why else would we continue to use them if they didn’t work? Exactly! It’s because they do!

Even further in my research I found that we can use essential oils for our hormones! The top essentials oils I started using for my hormones were Clary Sage, Lavender, Ylang Ylang & Geranium.

Let’s dive in to what each can help with!

Clary Sage – Reduces cortisol (the stress hormone!), it’s a natural anti-inflammatory (this helps with menstrual cramps), regulates estrogen (every stage of our lives this is fluctuating, clary sage helps keep this in balance!) relieves insomnia, improves digestion (as soon as I roll this blend on my lower abdomen, my stomach starts gurgling).

Lavender – Helps alleviate stress, anxiety, depression & insomnia. Calms the mind & body. Lavender is one of my all time favorite oils. This is an oil that is a true must have!

Ylang Ylang – Reduces irritability,, helps calm the nervous system during periods of depression, stress, anxiety and overwork. The sweet aroma helps promote a positive & calming mind & attitude. Improves sleep quality too!

Geranium – Improves mood, promotes relaxation, very calming & supports adrenal functions. (Your adrenal regulates metabolism, immune support & blood pressure) This oil also supports women’s reproductive health.

These oils have so many other benefits too! Please research and see what additional ailments they can help you with!

You will need to mix these oils with a carrier oil (fractionated coconut is my go to). I give my roller ball a good shake before each application and then I apply to my abdomen & lower back twice a day. My application times are in the mornings when I get up and after my shower at night. In this recipe, the geranium scent really sticks out to me. Even throughout the day, I get quick scents of the geranium and it just gives me such a calming feeling.

I start applying this blend a week before my menstrual cycle and the week during. This blend has definitely eased many hormonal issues I was having.

Hormone Roller Ball Blend

15 drops of Clary Sage

10 drops of Lavender

5 drops of Ylang Ylang

5 drops of Geranium

I top this off with fractionated coconut oil

Amber Glass Roller bottle 10 ml

Now your roller blend is complete & ready to use!
